Men and Doctors
I used to be one of those guys; you likely know one or more of them; you may be married to one. You may be one of them.
The Tough Guy. Aches and pains are ignored because "it's nothing" and "it'll go away as soon as I take some Advil."
The problem is that when it comes to your heath, those aches and pains may go away, temporarily, but they almost always get worse. And when you finally get to the doctor, you're in deep water. I speak from experience on this subject.
The same thing is true in your company. Led by a man or a woman, you have pains, which you ignore.
Do any of this sound familiar -- and be HONEST about it:
Sales: stalled or declined
You've tried “a little bit of everything,” but nothing has materially moved the needle.
Costs: rising and profits are tightening
Cash flow feels unpredictable and too dependent on one or two good months.
Execution: inconsistent inside the company
Right people? Maybe. Right discipline? Definitely not. You know the internal operating rhythm is weak.
Isolation: no outside perspective that you trust
Your leadership team isn’t pushing you for anything but raises, and you're tired of being the smartest person in the room.
Fear: creeping feeling of losing control
Your business is running you, not the other way around.
You know what you're doing isn’t working, but don’t know what will.
Let me give you some help, a lifeline if you will.
